Stroke 22 - Virtual Tour (3), House of the Oven

As promised in stroke 19, in which I presented the rehabilitation project, here is a tour of the “Casa do Forno”.

The materials respect the original construction methods, according to the considerations that I mentioned in the brush 14, and are adapted to new needs and technologies.

The exception is the attachment of the pool, with structure and roof of light metal in order to reduce costs and maintenance.

The attachment of the oven, which was the only not stone building, is open to the outside by creating a greenhouse in winter or a porch in the summer. In the corner, part of the rainwater is stored in a pottering for use in irrigation.

This is the oven which gives its name to the house.

The kitchen is lighted by two windows on the roof.

Downstairs the structure defines the dining areas, television, library, small office and toilet.

In the area of the ladder, a polycarbonate strip in the cover creates grazing light in the wall, allowing illuminating the ladder and hereafter the stonework.

Upstairs, three double bedrooms with an identical configuration, one of them with lighted windows on coverage, such as the toilet.

Finally, in the core access to the rooms, a covered window is installed at the highest point of the house, which serves as greenhouse in winter and as chimney ventilation in summer.

Here is the animation done in SketchUp.
