Stroke 50 - Antonio Sant'Elia (1)

This visionary architect gave us spectacular designs that still influence many people.

It is extraordinary how designs submitted in 1914, included in the manifesto of the Italian Futurist movement, continue to influence even the cinema in creating environments precisely ... futuristic.

Also my curiosity was piqued by these drawings, especially this one with a very suggestive name: "Railways station and airport with funiculars and lifts on three roadways."

There are many interpretations of this design on the web, as well as some interesting animations, however, what I wanted was to get an approximation of what it would feel like to be in this space, not only the image of the building.

So I put down to work and started by modeling from the image of the drawing, directly in SketchUp with the aid of "Match Photo".

As usual, the modulation was reduced to essentials to have a light file.

Once added some important details, some simple SketchUp's textures were applied, allowing transmit some realism to the model, I chose to create a nocturnal atmosphere, perhaps influenced by the cinema, even though it would not use extra software to lighting effects.

To help the production I’ve created a few accessories to give more realism, also with simple modulation, such as train, plane, bus, steam and headlights effects.

I had quite a few cars of the 30s (strokes 4, 8, and 11) so I chose this to be the time to portray.

The video is in production with all the ambiance of these spaces (ready on stroke 52), in the meantime, here are some pictures of the final model.
