To commemorate Citroen's
centenary, I bring back the iconic ID / DS.
Probably this is the most
revolutionary and futuristic car ever built, and it's one of the most beautiful
cars ever.
Combining the innumerable
technological innovations with the innumerable innovations in design, in just
one model, is basically creating a car close to perfection, without
exaggeration ...
Technical innovations, such as
legendary hydraulic suspension or disc brakes, are well-publicized in car
media, but design innovations are perhaps less well-known.
At a time when car aerodynamics
were little more than non-existent, the Citroen features a perfectly fluid
line, including the entire bottom of the car, and details such as clean brushes
concealed, doors without glass rims, different colored roof (which is now
fashionable ...), rear lights at roof level, integrated bumpers,... well, just
look closely and be surprised.
As for the 3d model, I had
already presented an ID/DS here in 2012, but the skills were not yet
tuned... so I took advantage of the centenary of the brand and my admiration
for the model to get back to the subject with another quality.
The modulation was not easy,
because the technical drawings available are not very strict, and the textures
were also complicated because I did not find photos that would solve the
problem, so I had to arrange a compromise between real photos and some textures
made from scratch.
Let's start with the image that
shows the modeling work:
