Stroke 16 - From paper drawings to models

Another alternative to make technical drawings into three-dimensional models, this time based on the principle of the models made of paper, commonly known as papercraft.

We all know this type of construction paper, made from a printed sheet, ready to cut, fold and paste. This example is made by Matt Bergstrom in www.buildyourownnewyork.com:

If mounted in SketchUp, you do not need cardboard, or scissors, or glue, and this is the aspect:

This just goes to show what inspired me to use printed technical drawings and transform them directly on paper models.

To try it, and as I do not had my drawings of this type on the PC in that moment, I searched the net these drawings of the House of Bianchi, from Mario Botta, itself demonstrating the genius of the architect.

Made the cuts, folding and pasting needed (virtual of course), the result is a paper model that can be an interesting alternative to show technical drawings.

The video shows the complete model.
