Stroke 19 - Rehabilitation (2) House of the Oven

Returning to the rehabilitation theme with another project of a house built in dry stone masonry.

The image used in the presentation is identical to the House of the Well, as well as the techniques used in SketchUp.

Beginning by the location of the house, where once again the environment was modeled on the aerial photo. The area in green marks the landscape of the valley that we wants to enjoy from the home.

The House of the Oven (Casa do Forno)

Comprised of several buildings, the housing is on the ground floor of the main building, the latest in turn, connected to an old building, possibly the original home, where are the oven and a large chimney.

Some annexes in worst state, serves as a barn and shelters for animals.

The project remains the original building walls, removing any later intervention, in particular the inner walls and the chimney, and part of the walls in the attachments.

Remains the low walls of the original attachments smaller, creating a ruin with different garden spaces.

To reduce the charges on the original stone walls, an independent structure is created in wood, which supports the floors and roof.

The program reverses the occupation of the main building, the top floor is compartmentalized and the lower floor is an open space. Keep the location of the kitchen and the oven attachment, opening it to the outside.

On the largest annex two walls are demolished, one of which was in ruin, taking advantage of the large gap to install an indoor pool, open to the new garden and landscape of the valley.

Despite this change, it remained the image of the barn to the street access, ensuring the privacy of the pool.

A tour to this house here.
