Do you know that people who come in SketchUp
components are pictures of employees of the program? What if you put your own
image or the image of your clients in their projects?
In the picture above I am with my wife, the Citroen DS
is not ours, serves as a tribute to a car far ahead of its time. In the image
of "my profile" I am also in SketchUp.
This is very simple, the steps are identical to the
stroke 7 tutorial (creating components from the photos) with some variations in
the middle, literally.
So I'll repeat the same steps (which you may accompany
in the p7 video), adding those steps required for this work.
Let's do this:
1 - Open a new file and create a square with the front
face, no matter the size;
2 - Import the image as texture and enter the square;
3 - Draw the outline of the figure, does not require
great precision, can use only straight lines or combine with or arcs;
Note: It is important that all points are on the face
[on face] in order to really create your outline. When finished the outline, if
you cannot select the figure separately from the rest of the square, make sure
that some of the points are not on the face and rectify.
4 - Delete all not applicable, if there are other
areas to remove from the picture, repeat the process;
By this time you must have a picture like this, that
when Shaded without texture (view> face style) should appear as a simple
silhouette:
Now the different steps:
4 a) - Draw some details of the image, creating closed
lines around specific areas to color, like hair, face, clothes, etc..:
4 b) - To facilitate the next job, make a copy of the
picture and place side by side, this simplifies the choice of colors compared
to the original image, now just paint:
Now return to the previous tutorial:
5 - Move the figure, from its base to the point of
origin of coordinates;
6 - Measure the height of the figure and with the
"Length" on, change the measure according to the actual (some 1.7 m)
and validate the change of scale;
7 - (Skip this step, contours invisible to photo
images)
8 - Select all, and activate "Make
Component" (on the shortcut menu of the mouse or in the menu
"Edit");
9 - Name the component, the description is optional,
and check "Always face camera" so that the figure follow the
movement;
10 - Press “Set gluing plane" to define the
extent and level of bonding;
11 - Set a base point, about the vertical axis of the
figure, to define the axis of rotation;
12 - Mark the point of defining the frontal plane (red
axis);
13 - Press "Create" to create the component
and ... it’s done!
14 - Now just put in the folder of SketchUp
components, located in the program folder, so that it becomes available in the “Components”
menu.
Note that this type of picture works very well in the
hand drawing styles of the program:
